League of Legends overview

Today we will be exploring the great game of League of Legends. Here are some reason why I enjoy this game, and probably why it is the most successful game in the market right now.

1. FREE TO PLAY: The free to play(f2p) model is a great model, set out to make more money than a pay to play(p2p) game. It allows everyone to try out the game, and a truly f2p game like League of Legends(LoL) gives no advantages to players who decide to spend real life money on the game. This allows for players to feel a sense of fairness, not needing to spend tons of money on a f2p game to be the best like popular titles such as MapleStory, and FlyFF. League of Legends makes its money through selling online credits called "Riot Points" which can be used to purchased champions or aesthetics, nothing which gives a player an edge over another.

       2. Simple, Easy to learn, Good looking not over the top looking graphics: The game does not require a top end computer, allowing many people to try LoL. It is simple to pick up since you can play with computers(bots), and the matchmaking system matchs you up with people around your skill level. Although people that have played similar games in the multi-player online battle arena(moba) genre such as LoL and Dota(Defense of the ancients) or HoN(Heroes of Newarth) will have an edge over other players. The game is still starter friendly, very easy to pick up.

     3. Competative, Huge fanbase, always updating: I cannot stress how important it is for a game to grow without a huge fanbase, fresh content, and a competative scene. League of Legends has some of the biggest, if not biggest and most viewed tournaments with prizes up to a million dollars. With 2-3 updates every week, and patch updates every 2 weeks the game is always changing making it fun for all players. The huge fanbase and playerbase allow for many creative content to be created and fast matchmaking for games. The success of prominent players in the competative scene show that the game can always change and grow, with flavor of the months(FOTM) changing consistently.

4. Team game: While some people dislike team games, having a team to carry as a burden can suck. But a team game is much more fun to play with friends than play alone. It is fun winning hardships with friends and losing together, we enjoy the game casually throughout the night on skype. Communicating about our real lives while enjoying our favorite game.
